I was looking for a 10x15 space, air conditioned, convenient hours, in a business\\/residential environment (not too industrial, isolated). DR Storage was certainly all of that.\\n\\nIt's near a popular intersection across from a Safeway. Inside it's spotless. Convenient hours, with really helpful managers on site.\\n\\nOne time I lost my key. And the manager was able to get someone within 30 minutes to cut the lock and gave me a new one. Recently I needed a second unit and had some questions, my call was returned within minutes, and we were able to quickly take care of everything over the phone (with Amelia, Ernie). She's polite, customer-centered and very good at her job. I've used other units in the past where this was NOT the case. And, believe me, when you have a question or issue, you want someone who cares and is competent! You get that in spades with Amelia!! Aside from the elevators having issues, it was generally good rates and easy to access most of the time. Upon move out (during which we bought a home and moved from roseville to dixon) the moving company we used left the lock on our unit and did not notify us. DR storage notified us on Jan 4th that our unit still had the lock on it, and did not answer when I attempted to call back. I am disabled at the moment and cannot get around easily, so when I spoke to them on the 11th when they called back again, the person I spoke with was very kind and understanding, assured me there was no issues and I could come up 'this week' to remove the lock and that it wasn't a big deal at all and no penalties or charges would be made on the account. When I arrived today to take the lock off, my code did not work so I went into the front office to let them know. I'm not sure if the front office girl was having a bad day but I was met with immediate hostility and she was very rude. I've worked customer service jobs, retail, etc and I get being burnt out, but this is not someone who should be interacting with customers regularly. She claimed I needed to pay today for the entire month plus a late fee and that while she agreed the other girl told me I did not, that she was wrong and the other girl wasn't informed properly when she made those claims to me. I said I'm not paying the whole month, and she said they would just send me to collections. There was no middle ground, and she would not stop just repeating the same thing while I was attempting to figure out where the miscommunication was. I asked her multiple times if she wanted me to just give her the key or if she would like me to go remove the lock myself. It took me an hour to get here today, I am in pain, exhausted, and really didn't need the hostility from whatever weird power trip she was on instead of attempting to work with me to figure out a compromise. I have the voice-mail and phone call recorded so I will be waiting and will file a BBB complaint at this point. There was no need for threats or attitude, I had none when I came in and would have been fine finding some middle ground. There was no mention of anything due or any late fee being applied until today, halfway through the month, and all I would've liked is more communication or an apology saying 'sorry, she wasn't trained to answer that question properly' and we could have figured this out before a confrontation today. When a customer moves out, they need to remove the lock from the unit and when our managers do their daily walk-throughs, we know the unit is empty and has been moved out. They also did not close on their own behind us. This concerns me with the security of the facility and it would have been impossible for me to open on my own due to my being handicapped. I tried calling their landline to see if someone would come and pick up the phone, but no one did, I finally decided to leave. It was already hard to find the facility.
